ABOUT DEPARTMENT


Welcome to the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
It gives me immense pride to introduce you to one of the most dynamic and industry-focused departments in the University. Our department offers well-structured programs at the Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG), and Doctoral (PhD) levels, covering a wide array of specializations in Mechanical Engineering. Our goal is to foster innovation, deep technical knowledge, and hands-on learning that bridges academia and industry.
We are equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories and Centres of Excellence in areas such as CNC machining, 3D printing and scanning, industrial robotics, PLC and SCADA, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and advanced nano-material testing. These labs form the foundation for both high-quality education and research, enabling our students and faculty to engage in real-world problem solving.
A key strength of our department is our access to cutting-edge simulation and design software, particularly from MSC Software, a global leader in CAE solutions. Our students and researchers regularly use:

 

MSC Nastran and Patran – for structural analysis and pre/post processing.

MSC Adams – for multibody dynamics and motion simulation

MSC Marc – for nonlinear FEA and advanced material behavior

Digimat – for modeling complex composite materials

MSC Apex – for next-generation CAE modeling

Simufact – for metal forming, welding, and additive manufacturing simulation

MSC Fatigue – for durability analysis

University Bundles – offering integrated access to a suite of these tools for academic and research use
Additionally, we offer training in ANSYS, Solid Edge, AutoCAD, and high-end visualization software, ensuring that our students are well-versed in tools widely used in industry and research worldwide.

We maintain strong collaborations with industry through active MoUs with leading companies. Our department undertakes live industrial projects, provides technical consultancy, and works closely with partners to solve R&D problems. These engagements not only strengthen our research ecosystem but also give students real-time exposure to industrial practices, challenges, and innovation.

Our department is also deeply invested in student placement and career development. Through our Training and Placement Cell, we organize:

Regular aptitude and technical training

Soft skills workshops

Industrial visits and internships

Mock interviews and placement drives

Thanks to these initiatives, our students secure placements in top-tier mechanical, automotive, aerospace, energy, and manufacturing companies. Several alumni have also gone on to pursue higher studies and research in premier institutes globally.
